Sand and sea
Illustrations are developing in every direction, but I'll just update an earlier sketch here for now.

Springtime
The fish weren't biting a week back when we tested the waters, nevertheless the paper needed something to go with the coinciding seasons of fishing and basketball tournament brackets.
Still working with the fanciful, the historic and the nature books in the studio, each in turn. My mind is constantly turning between them. I look forward to holding the actual books and remembering this busy season. – lec
Seeking the fleetness of the deer
The artwork is moving along, sometimes in little streams and other times in tidal waves. It's a little daunting to see at a glance how much work surrounds me and must find its way to completion in the coming months. Deer, puppies, ancient Mediterranean villages, and fanciful tales are coming to life.
A copy of the quilt book came to me today. Nothing like that new ink smell.

In constant motion
Three children's books are on the drawing board right now, and keeping me busy every available moment. Another upcoming book, about WWII-era quilting-on-the-go, needed this quick cover illustration last week.
I think I know how she feels...as well as the folks on the camel. I've been switching gears a lot lately from the briskly creative to a more thoughtful, careful pace, but trying to approach each moment with confidence.
But the images from the books are always in my head, and I think I'm starting to see the shapes of these ideas in my morning coffee. — lec
